Gold Trophy

This is a big~ish band arrangement of the Battlerock Galaxy theme from the video game Super Mario Galaxy for the Nintendo Wii. It won first place in the August 2017 Space Month Dwelling of Duels competition. There is strong Stan Kenton/Bill Holman influence as well as a splash of Maynard Ferguson, Chase, Holst, and John Williams mixed in. I play several real trumpet parts, several real trombone parts, a few real mellophonium parts, as well as midi piano, midi bass, and midi drums.

This was my 2nd DoD win.

I sang on the track "Bemknesyka (The Trials)" by the ever so wonderful John Robert Matz. This is the first time that I’ve ever sung in Al Bhed! Alas, the record label has it taken down.

I arranged and performed "Guadosalam". I also performed on "To the End of the Abyss/Beyond Darkness", "Blitzissimo", "Bravely Bwakking Forward", "Echoes of the Ronso", "A Contest of Aeons", and "Aria di Chiusura".

Alas, the entire album was removed from streaming services by the record label, but a remaster of "Guadosalam" now available!

I've always wanted to do a fugue based on this theme from Castlevania, but the first eleventeen times I tried, it was terrible.
This time, everything clicked, and I'm quite happy with how it turned out. I took advantage of the Dwelling of Duels January 2017 Brevity Month so that it would't have to be two minutes, and the one minute limit helped force me to complete it on time!

I arranged and performed "Random Waltz".  I also performed on "The Bwak Choir Cadets", "Under The Stars", and "Apoplexy".

Alas, the entire album was taken down by the record label, but a remaster of "Random Waltz" is in the works.

Introducing the Hip Hop stylings of Beret! This was for a big, fancy Dwelling of Duels month where the listening party took place live at Magfest.

The theme was the 80's vs the 90's. I chose the 90's mostly to troll Norg, who I suspected would assume that I'd choose the 80's. To really bring out the 90's feel, I decided to sample some songs that were quintessential 90's from my perspective.

  • "My Name is Mud" by Primus"
  • "Poison" by Bell Biv Devoe (which sampled)
    • "Poison" by Kool G Rap & DJ Polo
  • "Scenario" by A Tribe Called Quest (which sampled)
    • "Little Miss Lover" by Jimi Hendrix
    • "Oblighetto" by 'Brother' Jack McDuff
  • "The Humpty Dance" by Digital Underground (which sampled)
    • "Let's Play House" by Parliament
    • "Humpty Dump" by The Vibrettes
    • "Sing a Simple Song" by Sly & The Family Stone
    • "Theme from the Black Hole" by Parliment
    • "Doowutchyalike" by Digital Underground

The Masters of the 90’s (U Rappin’)

I played in the band Monstro Town on the track GruntilSka from the game Banjo-Kazooie for a Halloween album! SPOOOOKY!!!

For this album, I did a cover of Lethal Lava Land (Super Mario 64) in the form of a North Indian Raga.

Tribute Album 64 by Hat

This was recorded in a bathroom in Austin. It seemed like a great idea at the time. This was recorded for the Dwelling of Duels Fresh Month.
